Advances in Verruca Therapy

Brian Takoo Kunimoto, MD, FRCPC

First Paragraph of Book Chapter

Human papilloma viruses (HPVs) are a group of more than 70 genetically distinct double-stranded DNA viruses. They belong to a genus of the family Papovaviridae. Each HPV type is considered unique if it possesses less than 90% DNA sequence homology with the rest of the group in three different regions of the genome. Using this definition, investigators are discovering new HPV types every year.
